Dean Toriumi Reviews: Nasal length restored and a slight dorsal convexity

Testimonial #15

This patient underwent three previous rhinoplasties which resulted in a very short nose that was inappropriate for his facial features. He wished to have his nasal length restored and provide him with a slight dorsal convexity. His surgery went well and is happy with his outcome 14 months after surgery.

Dear sir,

With utmost pleasure I personally thank you for the surgery performed on my nose and the impeccable results achieved. When I came to you for my surgery you were the only source of hope left as my 3 previous surgeries were complicated and had left my nose looking devastated.

I had approached all other surgeons specializing in reconstructive rhinoplasty and all of them refused to handle my case due to its complexity. As a human I was frustrated and left with no hope till Dr. Dean Toriumi agreed to take up my case and the results are more than satisfying.

The result is a natural and clean normal looking nose which suits the face according to its proportion. Once again thank you Sir and May God bless you for your efforts.

Note: I strongly recommend all patients interested in getting rhinoplasty to not look at the monetary aspects as a wrong job can cost you more than paying it right the first time.

Thanks

Dean Toriumi Reviews: Patient presented for primary rhinoplasty, corrected dorsal hump and profile.

Testimonial #13

This patient presented for primary rhinoplasty. She wanted to correct her dorsal hump and profile. She was also treated after she broke her nose in a car accident.

I did extensive research prior to choosing Dr. Toriumi. I narrowed my search down to 3 doctors and visited each prior to making any decisions. Once I met each one, I searched more periodicals on each and reflected on each doctors recommendation. I chose Dr. Toriumi because of his positive reputation but more importantly he had the most conservative approach of any of the doctors I interviewed. I felt that with him I would have the most natural outcome.

The surgery is not easy and there are little things that none of the doctors explained to me but in the end the cosmetic outcome was what was most important to me. Although as an added bonus I do breath much easier since the surgery.

In fact I was so happy with Dr Toriumi that I returned to him when I had damage to my nose due to a car accident. I was in an accident where my face hit the airbag in my car and it caused the cartlidge in my nose to break and protrude on one side and there was damage in other areas. I returned to Dr. Toriumi to have this corrected. Both times I worked with Dr. Toriumi he asked me to have follow up visits for many months after the surgeries which I found to be very comforting as I went through the healing process which takes quite a bit of time.

I would highly recommend Dr. Toriumi if you want a natural looking nose. He explains what will look best on you which may be different than what you see in a magazine. You must give every plastic surgeon some creative license to decide what they think is best during the surgery and I would put this trust again in Dr Toriumi.

Dean Toriumi Reviews: Patient presented with a severe breathing problem and sinus issues

Testimonial #12

This patient presented with a severe breathing problem and sinus issues. She required a septal correction and sinus surgery. We also performed a rhinoplasty to narrow her nose and refine her nasal tip. The functional part of her surgery was of primary importance and required careful attention to her airway correction. The primary goal was to correct her nasal breathing but avoid making her nose wider.

Dr. Toriumi is in a class of his own when it comes to rhinoplasty. Several years ago, I had asked a good friend of mine for a referral to a rhinoplasty surgeon. She had spent the last 20 years working for a leading plastic surgeon in Chicago. Without hesitation, my friend suggested that I meet Dr. Dean Toriumi. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Toriumi to discuss what I hoped to accomplish with rhinoplasty surgery. I explained to Dr. Toriumi that I had always been unhappy with the width of my nose. While it wasn’t excessively large, it was very wide, and flat at the bridge. I had also had chronic breathing problems. I could rarely breathe through my nose, and my voice always sounded nasally. Because Dr. Toriumi is an ENT, he was able to make my nose functional while also correcting the external appearance. Through digital imaging, I was able to envision what my nose would look like, and was very happy with the proposed correction. Dr. Toriumi was to narrow the width of my nose and slightly refine the tip. He also suggested that I consider a chin implant to compensate for my weak chin and to balance the work done to my nose.

I postponed rhinoplasty for several years because my husband and I were just starting a family. A few years after my initial consultation, I was reading Chicago Magazine and Dr. Toriumi was featured on the cover, in an article entitled “Top Doctors”. He was listed as one of the leading rhinoplasty physicians, and certainly Chicago’s top rhinoplasty surgeon. My husband and I decided that now was the time to undergo surgery. My breathing problems had worsened over the years and I still was unhappy with the width of my nose. I underwent rhinoplasty, septoplasty and a chin implant in February, 2009. The first time I looked in the mirror, I panicked. My face was discolored and swollen, and it was difficult to move my lips. However, one week after surgery, my cast was removed and I was pleasantly surprised. My nose was a bit swollen but noticeably more defined at the bridge, which was my goal. Within, 2 weeks the swelling in my nose had gradually begun to decrease and the bruising in both the chin and nose area had faded considerably.

For the past six months, I have been visiting Dr. Toriumi’s office for follow-up examinations on a regular basis. The bridge of my nose looks terrific and the very slight swelling at the tip continues to subside. Today, my chin looks feminine, and makes my nose look proportionate to my other features. My nose no longer looks flattened at the bridge, and the tip looks terrific, and will continue to improve over time! I can breathe clearly and I’ve never felt better. When I look in the mirror I am very happy with what I see.

For those that claim Dr. Toriumi gives his patients wide, large noses, I can tell you this is absolutely untrue. The bridge of my nose is significantly more defined than it was prior to surgery. I had done a great deal of research before electing to have Dr. Toriumi correct my nose, and I learned that many doctors overcorrect patients noses in order to immediately achieve the look that the patient seeks. However, many of these individuals end up having surgery again because their nose no longer functions properly. My goal was to correct a both the functional problems that I have suffered with while also correcting the way my nose looked. Both of those goals have been achieved with flying colors.

Many people have unrealistic expectations following rhinoplasty. They believe that they will be completely transformed even though the desired transformation is not medically possible. You will find a lot of those people posting their complaints on the internet. For those that wish to modify and improve upon what they were born with, then Dr. Toriumi will deliver those improvements without compromising your ability to breathe.

After this experience, I believe that there is no one more capable than Dr. Toriumi when it comes to giving patients a nose that is both attractive and functional. I am able to breathe clearly for the first time in recent memory, and my nose looks great and will continue to improve over time! If patients are interested in a natural looking nose, and they have a realistic expectation of what can be achieved given the nose that they started with, then Dr. Toriumi is the right doctor for them. He is absolutely the best rhinoplasty surgeon in the marketplace, and he is worth every penny.

Dean Toriumi Reviews: Patient presented with a deviated nose, dorsal hump and bulbous tip

Testimonial #11

This patient presented with a deviated nose, dorsal hump and bulbous tip. She also had a septal perforation due to previous surgery. She underwent a repair with closure of her septal perforation.

“Thanks to the skills of Dr. Dean Toriumi, I am now able to breathe normally once again. For years, I suffered from a deviated septum, continual sinus problems and breathing problems. When I would exercise, walk briskly or ride my bicycle at moderately fast pace, I would have to breathe out of my mouth, not my nose.

I had surgery to repair these problems from another doctor, but the surgery turned out to be a “nightmare”. Instead of solving the problem, it became much worse. I ended up with a perforation and I could not breathe out of my nose at all. I couldn’t sleep at night, I would gasp for breath, sleep sitting up and have terrible panic attacks. I had to take sleeping pills to get some rest.

My o.b./gynecologist, Dr. Ron Miller recommended Dr. Toriumi, because he also had a similar surgery from him. Dr. Janet Szlyk also recommended Dr. Toriumi since she and her daughter were successful patients of his. I am so thankful that they recommended him so highly.”

After my surgery with Dr. Toriumi, I immediately noticed some relief. Now I can say that I breathe successfully through my nose, even when exercising and biking. I sleep at night without the use of sleeping pills. I can even sleep on my side and on my stomach. I highly recommend Dr. Dean Toriumi and tell many people about his skills.

Dean Toriumi Reviews: Patient presented with nasal obstruction and droopy nasal tip with asymmetric nostrils

Testimonial #10

This patient presented with nasal obstruction and droopy nasal tip with asymmetric nostrils. Her thick skin contributed to her amorphous nasal tip.

I can honestly say Dr. Toriumi saved the quality of my life. He was recommended to me by an ENT who found I had a collapsed septum after two failed rhinoplasty surgeries by a Chicago area plastic surgeon. I consulted with the ENT because I was lightheaded and dizzy from an inability to breathe through my nose. After his thorough exam of my nasal passages, the ENT immediately said, “Who did this to you? There is only one surgeon who can fix it.” He called Dr. Toriumi’s office and made an appointment for me within a week.

As I walked into the offices of Dr. Toriumi, I felt very nervous and desperate. I had been through two difficult surgeries resulting in disfigurement and a collapsed septum. The warmth of the staff and demeanor of Dr. Toriumi set me at ease. I was amazed by the diverse group of patients in the waiting room. Some were from out of state with suitcases in hand, some were very young and others were quite older. All spoke in the same theme—Dr. Toriumi is the best.

As soon as I met the doctor, the psychological healing process began for me. He spoke with confidence about correcting my condition. My wishes and dreams were paramount to him. Photos were taken and computer generated pictures were presented to me for my approval. Changes were made based on my desires. I felt so comfortable with him that I decided to have blepharoplasty at the same time (excess skin removed from below my eyes.)

The results were a dream come true. I can breathe and my appearance is just as he projected. The post op care continues with the same concern as shown in my first appointment. Since my successful surgery, I have recommended Dr. Toriumi to several friends and family. In my opinion, he has magical hands and a unique and caring bedside manor. He has given me a breath of fresh air.

Dean Toriumi Reviews: Patient that presents with a deviated nose with severe loss of nasal tip support.

Testimonial #9

Patient that presents with a deviated nose with severe loss of nasal tip support. She also disliked her bulbous nasal tip. Her nasal obstruction was severe and making breathing very difficult.

I was told by multiple specialists I consulted in Europe that a nasal reconstruction would be too complicated, and that they could not do anything for me. Fortunately, the last plastic surgeon I saw suggested in no uncertain terms that I should put myself in the hands of Dr. Toriumi. Well, that turned out to be the best advice I have ever received! Before Dr. Toriumi, I really thought I was destined to end up with the nose of a boxer, not to mention a lifetime of breathing problems and sinus infections. Now, I couldn’t be happier with the results, and I still have another year of healing to go. My experience with Dr. Toriumi and his very professional and friendly staff has been absolutely fantastic. It is often said that your face is your identity. I lack the proper words to truly convey my gratitude towards Dr. Toriumi. In a very tangible way, he has given me the chance to a fresh start with an improved identity.

Dean Toriumi Reviews: Patient with a deviated nose and deformed nasal bones with droopy tip and dorsal hump.

Testimonial #8

Patient with a deviated nose and deformed nasal bones with droopy tip and dorsal hump.

Using research I had conducted on articles, reviews and doctor referrals, I decided to have Dr. Toriumi perform my surgery. I believe he did a phenomenal job and am very pleased with the outcome. I now have a nose that is more suitable for me. Dr. Toriumi and his staff have been extremely supportive throughout the entire process and I would highly recommend them for anyone’s facial plastic surgery needs.

Dean Toriumi Reviews: Patient that underwent a previous rhinoplasty with right sided nasal obstruction and lack of tip definition.

Testimonial #7

Patient that underwent a previous rhinoplasty with right sided nasal obstruction and lack of tip definition.

I had my first rhinoplasty procedure when I was 20 years old. At that time, I was after the aesthetic appeal and looking for more definition in the tip. Ultimately, I did not get the results I wanted and needed a revision procedure. As I did not want to go through multiple procedures, I spent hundreds of hours on the Internet and phone while researching, interviewing and consulting with different surgeons and staff. Seven years later, I discovered Dr. Toriumi's practice. I did not have to wait for a year for a consultation (which was the case with the many surgeons featured on the shows, such as Dr. 90210) and the process was very straightforward and well-planned: consultation, fees/invoice, surgery date - all set within a week's time. My procedure was completed within 45 days of initial consultation. It worked extremely well for me as I am a professional who works 70-100 hours a week. My procedure was long and involved a rib graft. However, I had no bruising and was able to return to work within two weeks.

I live out of state. And I am now 14 months post-operative. I enjoy the appearance of my nose and am fascinated by the continued changes. Dr. Toriumi and his caring staff - Jan, Patty, Pat and Michelle - made a profound difference in my life. To this day, I fly out to visit them for my follow ups. I highly recommend Dr. Toriumi to those patients who are looking for a natural appearance accompanied with improved breathing.

Dean Toriumi Reviews: Primary rhinoplasty- dorsal hump reduction and correction of bulbous nasal tip.

Testimonial #6

This patient presents for primary rhinoplasty. She underwent dorsal hump reduction and correction of her bulbous nasal tip. She also underwent chin augmentation to help balance her lower face with the nose.

Due to the worsening of my deviated septum condition at the beginning of 2010 I had to start contemplating the possibility of surgery even if my June wedding date was approaching. I have been referred to Dr. Toriumi from a friend and that turned out to be the best advice I have ever received.

Since my first meeting with Dr. Toriumi I was very impressed with his excellent professionalism and knowledge. After I was assured that the recovery from surgery was short and that my look was not going to be impacted, I decided to go through the process.

The surgery itself wasn’t too bad; the pain was minimal and I was back to my normal life in a matter of days. Most important for the first time in my life I could breathe through both sides of my nose; it was swollen but it was getting better every week to the point in which I felt very comfortable at my wedding and at the same time delighted that my look improved. He was able to make my nose functional while also correcting the external appearance.

I deeply value Dr. Toriumi’s commitment to post-surgery examinations on a regular basis and his dedication to every single case. His staff is friendly, compassionate and very supportive. I couldn’t be more thankful to Dr. Toriumi and his wonderful staff (Pat, Jan and Patty) for making this experience as pleasant as it can be.
